About Us
Where veterans find faith, healing, and a sense of belonging.
OUR MISSION
Homeless prevention and Homeownership is the center of what we do. Veteran Homes of Honor is strategically increasing the housing supply for affordable housing needed the most by Veterans. Our pilot project is to build a replicable neighborhood of 10 micro-homes for seniors 50 and older.
Guided by faith and compassion, we offer a sustainable path to home ownership - empowering Veterans with our sustainable hand-up model of success. In partnerships with other support agencies, Veteran Homes of Honor ensures that every qualified Veteran finds a place to call home and gains the tools and opportunities to thrive, pay-if-forward, and to continue serving/transforming their community.
OUR VISION
Guided by faith, Veteran Homes of Honor envisions a future where every Veteran and their family owns a safe, high-quality affordable home within a loving community committed to overcoming the housing crisis.
Why Our Military Veterans Deserve Our Help:
Our mission at Veteran Homes of Honor is simple. The people who defended the American Dream of home ownership should still have the opportunity to live it themselves.
1. Service and Sacrifice – Veterans volunteered to serve, often putting their lives at risk, enduring separation from family, and facing physical or emotional hardship to protect the freedoms and safety of others.
2. Health Impacts – Many veterans face long-term consequences of their service, such as physical injuries, chronic pain, or invisible wounds like PTSD, depression, or traumatic brain injuries. These challenges can make everyday life difficult.
3. Reintegration – Transitioning from military to civilian life can be hard. Finding work, affordable housing, or a sense of community is not always straightforward. Support helps them successfully reintegrate.
4. Moral Obligation – As a society, benefiting from their sacrifices, there’s a collective responsibility to make sure veterans are not left behind, especially when they face homelessness, poverty, or inadequate healthcare.
5. Skills and Strengths – Veterans bring resilience, leadership, and discipline to communities. By supporting them, we’re also investing in people who continue to contribute in meaningful ways after service.
Why This Matters
While many programs focus on veterans experiencing homelessness, millions of veterans face a quieter but equally serious challenge: housing that consumes too much of their income. Nearly 4 million veterans spend more than 30% of their income on housing, and more than 1.5 million spend over half of their income just to keep a roof over their heads. When housing costs reach this level, it becomes difficult to afford basic necessities such as healthcare, food, transportation, and utilities.
For older adults, the risk is even greater. Seniors are now the fastest-growing populations experiencing homelessness, and researchers project that senior homelessness could triple by 2030 if housing affordability challenges continue. Many veterans living on fixed retirement or disability incomes are especially vulnerable when rising rents outpace their ability to pay.
Veteran Homes of Honor is designed to address this gap before housing instability becomes homelessness. By developing small, modern homes designed specifically for senior veterans, we aim to provide stable, affordable housing that allows veterans to maintain independence, dignity, and financial security.
Our pilot community of ten 600-square-foot homes will demonstrate a practical and sustainable model that can prevent housing instability before it becomes homelessness. Through partnerships with local governments, financial institutions, veteran organizations, and community supporters, Veteran Homes of Honor is working to create a scalable approach that can help more veterans remain securely housed in the communities they served.
We all need a place to call home. However, it is priceless when God is the foundation and the guiding force behind it. This stresses our dependence on God rather than on human strength alone.
Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
